Weight Management Awareness

At West Hill Animal Clinic, we are dedicating July and August to promote weight management awareness to owners. Obesity is a growing concern for the health of our pets; over 50% of our household pets are overweight. Obesity can contribute to serious health problems such as:

  • Arthritis
  • Diabetes
  • Greater anesthetic risk
  • Heart disease
  • Hepatic lipidosis (or fatty liver disease)
  • High blood pressure
  • Kidney disease
  • Reduced immune function
  • Respiratory disease
  • Skin disorders
  • Some cancers

Obesity can ultimately reduce their life expectancy by 2 years. Our goal for July and August is to make owners aware of how to manage your pet’s weight through proper nutrition, exercise and to optimize their overall health even if your pet is at a healthy weight.

What are we offering?

Complimentary Nutritional Consults: During these consults, a trained technician will meet with you to discuss your pet’s weight, body condition score, dietary options, feeding amounts, treats and exercise. Book an appointment through our front staff by either calling or stopping by!

Monthly Weigh-Ins: Following your initial consult, it is important to keep a close eye on your pet’s progress. Returning for monthly weigh-ins is crucial for determining they are being fed proper amounts and staying within safety ranges for weight loss. We would like to see you and your pet back once a month for a complimentary weigh-ins and if necessary an adjustment of feeding amounts.

Guaranteed Diets: We stand behind our diets! If for any reason you are not satisfied with a diet you have purchased with us, it can be returned for 100% money back, even if it has already been opened!

Weight Management Awareness Seminar: On Thursday, August 14th we will be hosting a Weight Management Awareness Night at 7:30p.m at the clinic! We will be speaking of the many topics that arise when dealing with weight management issues and discussing ways to better your pet’s health. Sign up with our front staff or give us a call at the clinic to join us!
